The Joan Effect

"The Joan Effect" is our philosophy that the work we do in Joan can have a noticeable effect on the women involved, and a powerful impact on a wide range of women in our communities. In truth, our ultimate hope is that this work leaves a positive mark on all humans, as real feminism benefits everyone.  And no effect we feel- or create- is too small, as ripples can be mighty and accumulation is an effective way to build something massive.  

Whether our focus is on adjusting the language we use (or allow), instilling new beliefs about ourselves, or driving policy change- the effects are important and will take time.  We believe if we keep showing up and working as a collective, we can do great things.
