We're Just Getting Started.

I want to make the world a better place.  I’ve felt this way since I can remember, but when it came time to pick a career path I went for the money.  Being raised by a single mother, I was taught that independence was critical- so finacial stability took priority.

Here I am, almost 20 years after graduating college, and that need to impact the world is getting exceptionally noisy. 

While there are countless issues that I feel passionate about- after years of thought I realized it was something in my own experience that I felt the most compelled to tend to.   BEING FEMALE IS TOUGH. And often, we aren’t even aware that it is- we just think, “that’s how things are” and we carry on. 

As a mom of four, who has worked in a male dominant industry, suffered post partum depression, hit a plateau at work after kids, been a target for bullies, been sexually harassed, worried about my pant size, held women's hands during rape exams, the LIST GOES ON...  it took me a shockingly long time to see just how messed up things are for us.  I’d like to give special shout outs to #MeToo for shaking the crap out of me- and to the women who led the charge while I was sleeping on feminism.   

Now I can’t unsee how it is for us- in the workplace, in the home, in healthcare, in economics, in society, in EVERYTHING.  And it’s far worse (often incomparable) for women of color, lower income brackets and LGBTQ+ communities. It’s my time to tag in and do what I can for all the ladies.  

I've led teams for over 15 years, keeping them aligned to strategies and desired outcomes, while challenging teammates to grow both personally and professionally. I’ve learned that leading with love, respect and curiosity is the only way to create an environment for humans to flourish.  I hold degrees in Human Behavior and Management, I’m credentialed by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) for Life + Executive Coaching, and I hold a certification in Organizational Design.  

If that sounds like some corporate speak- it’s all to say that I’ve been training my whole adult life for this. I help people grow into their best selves, so they can work together and get things done.  

I'm ready to take what I've spent years doing “for the man” and put it to work for ALL THE WOMEN. I’m committed to chipping away at the ideas that hold us back- and I want ladies at the helm.  They are, in fact, the best problem solvers I know. 

I created Joan to do just that- I hope you will join the movement and do this damn thing with me!
